Description

Another COW (creature of the week) on conceptart- this week the theme was 'zombie dinosaur'. Since I really love dinosaurs (they were the reason why I started to draw), I just HAD to draw something for this week :D
I based my concept on the Dilophosaurus and added some more details.

_______________

The era of the dinosaur is over, but still there is one last survivior of this long forgotten time- the Zombie Dinosaur. It endured all those millions of years in the deep ice- But the ice began to melt and the old spell that keeps the dinosaur alive woke him up. Now he roams around, searching for preys to lessen his unlimited thirst for blood..

Looks pretty cool. I wonder who casted the spell on this dinosaur, since I don't imagine humans were around to do it. Perhaps an alien wizard, or a supernatural entity?

I would like to note that Dilophosaurus went extinct about 190 mya, so the age of the dinosaurs would still be going on for another hundred million years. It takes some extreme conditions for bodies to remain preserved for longer than a few thousand years, let alone millions. There is also no way an area can remain consistently frozen for so long when you take into account the effects of climate change and continental drift altering the environment over these millions of years.

In terms of physical characteristics, I noticed remains of rough scaly skin along the hips, but according to findings by the PAN, the skin around there would have been quite smooth. Phylogenetic bracketing seem to suggest that Dilophosaurus had feathers on the dorsal and lateral sides, though this isn't conclusive. Your interpretation seems to have icy quills which can be interpreted as modified feathers or a form of ice magic. A convenient detail, since it kind of works either way, regardless of whether or not Dilophosaurus actually had feathers.
